Laundry Aide

Details: Note:  Please read the complete description below before applying for this job.  Complete DescriptionProvena Sacred Heart Home, located in Avilla, Indiana, provides a full continuum of high-quality care that includes rehabilitation services, intermediate and skilled nursing care, assisted living and independent living for older adults.  We currently seek a Laundry Aide to join our team:POSITION: Laundry AideJOB SUMMARY: Maintains a consistent level of clean personal laundry for individual residents and clean linen for the facility.QUALIFICATIONS:1.       Minimum grammar school education, high school education preferred.2.       Laundry experience preferred.3.       Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.4.       Ability to learn, understand and work with applicable regulations.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:1.       Ability to get around the facility to carry out assignments.2.       Ability to work on one's feet for a full shift.3.       Ability to lift heavy objects weighing over 50 pounds.4.       Ability to tolerate up and down activity. Ability to lift, bend and stretch.5.       Ability to communicate orally and in writing with residents, families, coworkers and the public.6.       Ability to push carts and operate washers and dryers.7.       Ability to read residents names and room numbers.8.       Ability to sort linen.POTENTIAL EXPOSURE TO BLOODBORNE PATHOGENSThis position is a Category I position.  Tasks may involve exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue, requiring the use of personal protective equipment.  Gloves should be worn for any contact with blood and body fluids/tissue.  Gowns and masks or eye coverings may be needed if it is likely that soiling of clothing or splattering of blood may occur.POTENTIAL EXPOSURE TO WORKPLACE VIOLENCE: Category 1 - LOW RISKTasks that may require the employee to come into contact with a violent person or situation but employment may require performing unplanned category 1 tasks.  The normal work routine involves little or no contact with a violent person or situation however, contact orpotential contact at some time may be required as a condition ofemployment.ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:Typical of institutional settings, i.e. hazards associated with the use of mechanical equipment, wet floors, chemicals and lifting. ACCOUNTABILITY: The Laundry Aide is accountable to the Housekeeping/Laundry Director of Provena Sacred Heart Home. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS OF:  Laundry Aide 1.      Washes, dries and sorts clothing and linen. 2.      Returns clean clothing to appropriate residents' closets and drawers. 3.      Fold linen and place on shelves in clean linen storage area. 4.      Protects clean linens from contamination during handling, transport and storage. 5.      Stores soiled linens and clothing separate from clean items. 6.      Maintains linen room in neat and orderly fashion. 7.      Maintains laundry room in neat and orderly fashion. 8.      Performs all laundry functions according to laundry policies and          procedures. 9.      Fill clean linen carts for units. 10.    Will perform all other duties as assigned to ensure the health, safety and well being of the residents and to ensure the efficient running of the health facility.GENERAL REQUIREMENTS1.       Performs tasks in a manner consistent with system values as defined by the Provena Health and Provena Sacred Heart Home Mission Statements.2.       Adhere to Federal and State regulations governing long term care.3.       Maintains a neat, well-groomed appearance and adhere to the dress code of the position.4.       Comply with Infection Control guidelines and follow Universal Precautions and isolation procedures.5.       Must be knowledgeable of Provena Sacred Heart Home fire and safety procedures.6.       Project a positive image when dealing with residents, coworkers, families and the public.7.       Attend all mandatory inservices.8.       Work cooperatively with coworkers and other departments.9. Performs tasks in accordance with approved policies and procedures and within quality standards used by each department.10. Will perform all other duties as assigned to ensure the health safety and well being of the residents and to ensure efficient running of the health facility.11.
