As a Landscape Groundskeeper/Porter with Archstone, you will regularly walk the interior and exterior of the community to pick up trash, identify issues that need to be resolved and help maintain the overall “wow' factor of the community.ResponsibilitiesAs a Landscape Groundskeeper/Porter with Archstone, you will follow a basic maintenance and grounds keeping schedule, prioritize tasks and check in repeatedly with the Service Manager throughout the day. As the go-to person for maintenance and general labor concerns, our residents and team members can count on you to address issues before they become bigger problems. You will perform emergency water and electric break shutoffs, clean and vacuum model apartments, tend to outside trash and recycling areas and ensure that they are accessible to garbage pickup.Additional responsibilities of the Landscape Groundskeeper/Janitor include: Emptying trash, dusting, mopping and generally cleaning the leasing office each morning Cleaning common area restrooms, lounges, laundry rooms and hallways Cleaning fitness area surfaces, equipment and restrooms, filling the water jug, putting away loose weights, making sure fitness equipment works properly and performing minor maintenance if needed Performing minor landscaping tasks like blowing leaves, raking, sweeping and picking up garbage Delivering Archstone newsletters throughout the community Pressure-washing property exterior and walkways Maintaining outdoor recreation areas Changing and fixing residents’ window shades and blinds, air filters, light bulbs, stove burners and other minor pieces of equipment Assisting other employees with their duties as neededRequirementsAs a Landscape Groundskeeper/Janitor with Archstone, you must have strong customer service skills and effective interpersonal communication skills. Our ideal Landscape Groundskeeper/Janitor is outgoing and detail-oriented, takes pride in a job well done and is proactive in helping residents with their needs. You must be willing to learn how to do new things, stay involved with community priorities and solicit the support of team members in keeping the property clean. You must also possess a strong work ethic, perform tasks correctly the first time around and work well independently.Additional requirements for the Landscape Groundskeeper/Janitor include:Minimum 6 months experience in a janitorial, customer service, landscaping, hospitality, facilities, maintenance or similar role Familiarity with basic tools and grounds-keeping equipment such as rakes, ladders, leaf blowers, power washers and other tools Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with basic hand tools Ability to work outside in all types of weather, lift at least 50 pounds and work on your feet all day Ability to speak and understand basic English required, bilingual skills a plus Experience with utility shut off in apartments preferred; familiarity with electrical and plumbing systems a plus Working knowledge of painting and appliance repairs also helpfulBenefitsAt Archstone we recognize that exceptional people need exceptional rewards.
